Welcome to Hyper Hounds Shetland Sheepdogs
We are a small hobby kennel located about ten minutes east of Calgary, Alberta on 4 beautiful acres. Our focus is on breeding dogs with outstanding temperaments, great structure and a strong drive to work. We conform to the CKC standard for the Shetland Sheepdog and we are members of the Canadian Shetland Sheepdog Association and the Canadian Kennel Club.
Our dogs are members of our family and live in our home, and take part in every aspect of our daily lives. We keep a small number of dogs so that our Shelties will always receive lots of individual attention, training and affection. Our dogs go boating, camping, sleep on the couch, watch movies with us, come to work with us and so much more.
Our Shelties are also very active in dog sports and competition. We have titled dogs in agility, formal obedience, rally obedience, flyball, scent hurdle racing, barn hunt and canine nose work. Our dogs have ranked in the top ten in agility and rally obedience in Canada on several occasions. Our dogs love to work and we love to challenge them with new activities and hobbies.
We are very proud to have had four of our dogs represent Canada at international agility competitions. Spryte and Spark have both competed at the FCI World agility Championships. Spryte was on the team in 2014, 2018 and 2019, Spark was a team member for 2018, 2019 and reserve dog for 2023. Spark and Grizzly have both represented Canada at the European Open (EO). Spark in 2022 and Grizzly in 2023. Lumos is on the 2024 World Agility Open (WAO) team Canada. In 2024 both Spark and Grizzly were named to the AAC IFCS Agility Team Canada.
