News Flash: Kim Boyes and Sheltie "Strider" win the 2010 Agility Nationals and National Steeplechase Finals!!! Making them National Champions.

After more than a decade training and working with thousands of dogs, Kim now has the opportunity to realize her dream of running her successfull training business in her very own, first class training facility.  Kim has been instructing obedience group and private lessons for more than 10 years in the Calgary area.  Her methods are based on positive and motivational training techniques, ensuring a stress-free learning environment for you and your pet.

In 2005, Kim started the Rowdy Dogz training facility in NW Calgary, a business that quickly grew to a well known and highly sought after training facility.  Combined with a dog daycare and grooming facility, it soon needed more space, something that is difficult to come by in the city.  Kim sold Rowdy Dogz in 2008 and moved just south of Calgary to a 3 acre property complete with an extra large 60 X 40 foot building, almost twice the size of her previous training space.  A few months were spent finishing electrical work, installing specialized heating and flooring, and soon Hyper Hounds was born.  Kim is now able to offer many classes not possible in the previous facility, and with the large outdoor area, can expand into more specialized areas of rally obedience, agility, and scent/tracking exercises.  As well, rally obedience and agility trials can now be held on-site.

Kim strongly believes in continuing education for dog trainers and regularly attends seminars and workshops by leading trainers in her field.  This allows her to provide her students with the most up to date and efficient training techniques available.  She is also a judge for the Canadian Association of Rally Obedience (CARO) and a member in good standing with the Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers (CAPPDT).

Kim competes in dog sports regularly with her three dogs and has earned multiple titles in traditional obedience, rally obedience, agility, scent hurdle racing and flyball.

Our new addition! Spryte came home on July 22, 2010 at the tender age of 8 weeks.  She is a bouncy, active little sheltie puppy ready to take on the world.  She is having a great time exploring the acreage, playing with her new siblings and learning about the wonderful world of dog training.  She will be my up and coming performance dog and will one day compete in obedience, rally and agility. For now we are just enjoying loving and cuddling a puppy!

Strider is that working dog that every trainer dreams of. He loves to train and compete and never gets tired of trying.  He is always smiling and bouncing around with joy.  If I don't feel like training one day he is also very happy to just relax and cuddle up on the coach.  Currently Strider is training for the Utility ring, agility, rally obedience and scent hurdle racing.

Alaska was my first performance dog, and she got me hooked on dog sports of all varieties.  She also has that "I'll do anything" attitude and was always a joy to train.  She has a very outgoing and friendly personality which is very unique for her breed.  We often had vets, groomers and trainers comment on her pleasant demeanor.  Unfortunetly a few years back we noticed that she was having trouble seeing, and after a trip to the vet she was diagnosed with progressive retinal atrophy.  Alaska is slowly going blind and was retired because of it.  It was hard for me to have to retire a wonderful teammate, but she hasn't skipped a beat.  Alaska still loves to run around the house bossing the other dogs around, or curling up on a dog bed chewing on her favorite toy.

Kloee belongs to my husband, and was enjoying a life of leisure for many years.  When Alaska had to be retired, I decided that Kloee might enjoy training and competing in dog sports.  So at the age of 4 years old Kloee began training for obedience, rally obedience and agility.  A little over a year later Kloee was in the ring racking up titles, proving that you can teach an old dog new tricks!  At the age of seven, Kloee as slowing down a lot and I decided it was time to retire her.  Now Kloee is enjoying just being a dog, having fun swimming, playing fetch, rolling in the snow, or just relaxing on a cozy dog bed.
